The world is very large, and about 6 billion human beings currently inhabit it. Many more have already lived and died.

Who really grasps what such large numbers mean ?

I get glimpses of the power of large numbers when presented with examples of the consequences of this largeness. One sort of example is that which provides confirmation of the proposition that any sort of person that can be imagined can be found to exist.
